Fort Lauderdale Florida temple is now the 2nd operating temple in the state of Florida, USA. Our 1st temple is Orlando Florida temple. I am very grateful that the 3 dedication sessions (9 am, 12 noon and 3 pm) are broadcasted to all stakes and districts in Florida. We were able to watch it from our stake. Mike and I attended the 9 am session.
When we arrived in the hall at 8:30 am, which was when we were told to be seated in, there were already a lot members. Pictures of the temple and the temple's rooms were projected on the white screen. Hymns filled the reverent hall with the spirit. My eyes were teary as I absorbed the words of the hymns.
I love the dedicatory prayer by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, 2nd Counselor in the First Presidency, given during the last 15 minutes of the 1-1/2 hr session. I felt the deep and powerful words. The spirit was strong and touched my heart. I know I have shedded tears throughout the session, and especially during the dedicatory prayer by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf.
What a blessing for me to be able to witness the dedication of a temple, for the very 1st time. And also to feel the presence of our Heavenly Father, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost in His Holy House, even though it is through the broadcast. My faith is strengthened

Stake Relief Society Birthday Party 2014
Saturday, 22 March 2014
We had the conference from 10 am - 12 pm, and after that we had lunch. And we learnt to draw during the conference, under the instructions of an artist (Donna Dewberry) using one stroke technique. I like what I see. I am proud of my work. Never painted before. This is my 1st painting!

Temple is His House and He is in control
Friday, 1st April 2011
I know my Heavenly Father loves me. I know my Heavenly Father knows me and my heart’s
desire on this day’s visit to the Oklahoma temple.
He
knows that I wanted my father to be sealed to his parents. I had forgotten to request that ordinance when his other temple ordinances were done in February 2009 in the
San Diego temple. My paternal
grandparents’ work had been done in July 2006 in the Manila temple, and at the
same time sealed as a couple.
After the endowment session, Mike and I
looked for the sealing rooms. We saw
two rooms, but nobody was there. We
were expecting sealing session after the endowment session, as I understood
from telephone conversations. I was very disappointed when a temple worker
told us that sealing session is done for that morning.
It was about 1:45pm then. Mike & I departed and disappointedly, I
walked in search of the ladies’ dressing room. Unknowingly, I walked past the dressing
room and met another temple worker (whom I learnt later as the temple President
MLSo.). I showed the
blue colored ordinance recording card to him, remarking that my daddy needed to
be sealed to his parents. He looked at
my ordinance card, took it, told me to wait and walked away. Another temple worker (whom I learnt later
as the temple President’s wife) wanted to lead me to the dressing room to change
out my temple clothes, and said she would get the ordinance card back to
me. I told her I would like to wait and
see if the sealing could be done. I
couldn’t remember if it was President MLS. or someone else who came back
and escorted me back to a sealing room.
The sealer came in. Michael came
in. President MLS. came in with 2
other temple workers, one of whom acted as proxy for my father. Mike acted as proxy for my paternal
grandfather while I for my paternal grandmother. My
eyes were teary when dad was finally sealed to his parents.
Dad had migrated to Malaysia from China. I and my brothers were born in Malaysia. Grandpa and grandma never left China. There were no visits between him and my
grandparents. There were no phone calls
as well, except snail mail. Both sides
could not afford the trips. And so we
never got to meet our grandparents or know them. I imagined my dad and my grandparents
missing each other tremendously.
Meeting the temple president is like meeting
Heavenly Father. He knew that I wanted
my father to be sealed to my grandparents this day. My father has been waiting for this. And even though the next sealing will only
be 4 hours later, at 6:10pm, the temple president has the authority to have
this sealing done, so that I do not have to wait and that we could travel back
to Tulsa, which was 1-1/2 hrs drive away.
Sister KOt. interesting remarked (after
hearing my story) said that my father said he is not going to let that moment
passed. He had pushed me in a manner
that I had missed the dressing room.

I Will Tell You In Your Mind and In Your Heart, by the Holy Ghost
Wednesday, 11 February 2009
Sister Ot. phoned on Tuesday morning, 10 February 2009, and said she had a dream Monday night of being in the temple. She had woken up in the early morning hours
before daylight. Of all the things that could have been on her mind at that time -- maybe
worrying about one of her children or a grandchild needing help, or thinking
about her sister or extended family, etc., --- But, the only thing
that was on her mind and in her heart was that she needed to
help me prepare to do the temple work for my parents.
Sister Ot. didn't know that our ward temple trip was the next day, Wednesday, 11 February 2009. We had only one day to make phone calls and connect with all the right people for help.
Sister Ot. didn't know that our ward temple trip was the next day, Wednesday, 11 February 2009. We had only one day to make phone calls and connect with all the right people for help.
I phoned my ward temple trip coordinator right away as I had not signed up to go. Sister Ot. explained to me what records and what extra clothes I needed to bring. Our stake center was opened on Tuesday, 10 February, so I had the family record printed that afternoon.
Temple work for the dead could only be done after 1 year of their passing. My father passed away 5 September 2005 and my mother 12 November 2007. My parents were ready for their temple work.
Brother and Sister Ot. were the missionary couple Elder and Sister Ot. that had prepared me to receive my own endownment on the 25 July 2006. They had arrived in our town 12 days after my father's passing. They have met and visited my mother while she was alive and when she was bed-ridden. Sister Ot. had even delivered flowers to my mother and sister-in-law on Mother's Day in 2006, when I was away from town.
Our Heavenly Father works in a miraculous way. He knows my desire. Doing my parent's temple work every since my mum passed had always been in my mind. I didn't sign up for the ward's temple trip on the 11 February 2009 because I didn't know of any "friends" going. It was a 3 to 3-1/2 hrs drive.
The members travelled in the shuttle bus and the van. Brother and Sister Pa.. came and took me to Dairy Queen where the shuttler bus and the van was waiting. I went with the van, driven by Brother GFa. We left at 6:15 am Arizona time and arrived at the San Diego temple 8:30 am California time. Went straight to the recording office and had the papers printed for my parents' work.
I did the baptism, confirmation, initiatory and received the endowment for my mum. Brother Ot. acted as proxy for my dad in baptism. Brother GFa. confirmed my father. Brother DHw. did the initiary and received the endowment for my father. My mother (proxy by myself) to my father (proxy by a brother in the sealing room). My brother (who passed away 24 March 1999) Joseph (proxy by another brother in the sealing room) and I was sealed to my mother (proxy by Sister EHi.) and my father (the same proxy for my father when sealed to my mother). Interestingly, Sister EHi was sitting outside the sealing room, probably thinking after a session. When Sister EHi saw Sister Ot. leading me to the sealing room, she stood up and said she would like to join us. Sister Ot. had to leave and there is Sister EHi with me. It suddenly occured to me that she could act as proxy for my mother!
Everything was so smooth this day. After the sealing session, I walked to the front desk. Brother GFa. and 2 others, travelling on the van, were waiting for me. It was about 1:30 pm California time and it was time to drive back to Arizona. Earlier on in the temple, I didn't understand Brother GFa. when he said we could take all the time we needed to do my parents' work. He was driving his own van and therefore we didn't have to be back at 5:30 pm Arizona time to return the vehicle, like the shuttle bus!
Everything went smoothly, thanks to Sister Ot. who had made it possible. Brother and Sister Ot. works at the San Diego temple very Wednesday. Yesterday afternoon she had made prior arrangements with the other temple workers to make my parents' work possible today.
I like to share the following email that Sister Ot. (with her permission) sent to me:

All the miracles that happened that
wonderful day (11 Feb ’09), surely has strengthened my testimony,
------ the temple recorder, Bro. Casos, making an exception for
you, and Frieda available to input all the data, members of your
group offering to do whatever you needed rather than them going on the
scheduled Endowment session at 9:00am, the other various (sacred) events
during the Endowment for your Mum, the sealer, Brother M., who came out to
welcome you and let you know he had all your cards, and my sweet
co-ordinator who was very sensitive to let me accompany
you. Truly, this was all the Lord's work in
HIS house, so He made sure it all happened.]
Temple Endowment
Heavenly Father had provided the way for me to receive my temple endowment. Manila temple, the nearest temple, was in Quezon City in the Philippines.
I was first interviewed by my branch (Miri) president Ch.. on the 20 April 2006. The second and last interview was held in the PJ branch building by the Singapore Mission President La.. on the 4 May 2006. The PJ branch is 30 mins. drive from the capital city of Kuala Lumpur. The flight from Miri to Kuala Lumpur is about 2 hrs.
Missionary couple Elder and Sister Ot.. taught (starting the 26 June till the 10 July) me 6 lessons to prepare for the temple endowment which was set for the 25 July.
I am thankful for a dear friend (LLH) who came to meet us (my daughter and I) at the Kota Kinabalu airport, and took us for lunch. The AirAsia flight from Miri was only 40 mins, arrived at 8:35 am, Monday 24 July 2006. The connecting AirAsia flight from Kota Kinabalu only leaves at 13:30 pm.
I am thankful for a friend (JOl.), whom I have never met before this trip, whom I had the blessing to correspond with, who came to meet us at the Clark airport. The flight from Kota Kinabalu took 2 hrs, arrived at 3:30 pm. JOl. took us on the cheepneys, then the tricycles and finally the taxi to reach the patron housing facility that is located across the Manila temple.
I am thankful for another friend (KCa.), whom I have never met before this trip, whom I had the blessing to correspond with as well, who booked our accommodation at the patron housing facility, who escorted me to receive my endowment on the morning of 25 July 2006. Grateful for her and Ra. (a worker at the Patron's house)'s time in taking us to Greenhills shopping center and Megamall shopping Mall the following 2 days.
There is no other peaceful place in the world than being in a temple. You just want to stay there forever, away from the hustle and bustle of life, away from the worries, anxiety, etc.
I am so grateful that I have been able to act as proxy (baptism, confirmation, initiatory) for my maternal and paternal grandmothers, my 2nd paternal aunty-in-law. My daughter received endowment for my paternal grandmother, Sister Adora for my 2nd paternal aunty-in-law. I am grateful that I was able to act as proxy for my paternal grandmother to be sealed to her parents.
I am grateful that I could do proxies for the departed sisters, whom I did not know, in receiving their endowments. And I am grateful that I could do proxies in the sealing room, as daughters, mothers and wives.
The day of our departure from Manila, 28 July 2006, I got to witness a temple marriage for the 1st time, that morning. It was 5-1/2 years later, on the 14 January 2012, that I got to witness the 2nd temple marriage in San Diego, California. It was the temple marriage of my daughter to her husband.
Our AirAsia flight from Clark to Kota Kinabalu arrived at 5:55 pm. The same dear friend (LLH) came to meet us, took us to dinner and had us stayed with her and her family for the night, took us to the airport for our return flight to Miri the next morning.
Heavenly Father had blessed me with people to help all the way, especially my daughter who had taken her time to be with me all the way from Miri and back, and also escorted me when I received my endowment.

Relief Society Meeting - Homemade Laundry Soap
Thursday, 9 February 2012
Thankful to our ward Relief Society President in showing us how to make our own liquid laundry soap (taken from the Duggar's Recipes) at tonight's meeting.
The following is copied from the handout I received:
Tips for Laundry Soap: We use Fels-Naptha bar soap in the homemade soap recipes, but you can use Ivory, Sunlight, Kirk's Hardware Castile or Zote bars. Don't use heavily perfumed soaps. We buy Fels-Naptha by the case from our local grocer or online. Washing soda and Borax can normally be found on the laundry or cleaning aisle.
Recipe cost approx. $2.
Homemade Liquid Laundry Soap - Front or top load machine - best value
4 cups hot tape water
1 Fels-Naptha soap bar
1 Cup Washing Soda
1/2 Cup Borax
Grate bar of soap and add to saucepan with water. Stir continually over medium-low heat until soap dissolves and is melted.
Fill a 5 gallon bucket half full of hot tape water. Add melted soap, washing soda and Borax. Stir well until all powder is dissolved. Fill bucket to top with more hot water. Stir, cover and let sit overnight to thicken.
Stir and fill a used, clean, laundry soap dispenser half full with soap and then fill rest of way with water. Shake before each use. (will gel)
Optional: You can add 10-15 drops of essential oil per 2 gallons. Add once soap has cooled. Ideas: lavender, rosemary, tea tree oil.
Yield: Liquid soap recipe makes 10 gallons.
Top Load Machine - 5/8 cup per load (Approx. 180 loads)
Front Load Machine - 1/4 cup per load (Approx. 640 loads)
******
A sister said that she uses the Fels-Naptha bar soap to remove stains as well and it works for her. So I bought 2 of them from Walmart for 97 cts each. The wrapping said "ideal of pretreating stains". That would definitely help with my cost savings, because one bar would go a long way The Washing Soda and Borax are also available in the detergent isle in Walmart as well.
We got to take home a 1.75L of the already made liquid soap to try. So I tried today. I used about 1-1/2 cups for one full load. I am used to seeing suds in my washing and I don't see that with this homemade liquid laundry soap, so I thought I better pour some more it! I need to start keeping empty containers if I decide to make our own.
******
Below is the recipe for making powdered laundry detergent - top load machine. I wonder why it is called detergent and not soap. I also wonder why it only for top load machine.
1 Fels-Naptha soap bar
1 Cup Washing Soda
1/2 Cup Borax
Grate soap or break into pieces and process in a food processor until powdered. Mix all ingredients. For light load, use 1 Tablespoon. For heavy or heavily soiled load, use 2 Tablespoons, Yields: 3 Cups detergent. (Approx. 40 loads)
