Unexpected Visitor

Sunday, 31 July 2011

There was a change in the visiting teaching arrangement. My previous visiting teacher said she had been assigned to other sisters in the ward. That was like 2 months ago and since then no sisters had came up to me and said they were now my visiting teachers. No calls, nothing. Silence. I actually emailed my Relief Society to tell her how unloved I felt.

This particular day, we didn't go to the church meetings because Mike didn't feel up to going, so I stayed home with him. I was telling Mike at about 5pm that it did not matter if I attended church or not because I didn't feel the sisters care.

I was terribly wrong. At 7 pm, someone knocked at our door. We hardly have people knocking at our door at night, unless appointments had been made. My new visiting teacher said she felt prompted to check on me, even though visiting-teaching is ideally done with another sister. She gave me the visiting teaching message for the month of July and a small plastic box containing a brownie.

I think there is a punctuation mark (comma) after the first word (love). That is how my sentence would be if I was writing the note. Heavenly Father has purposely had Sister Minter omitted that, without her realizing that! This message is what I needed! Look outside yourself. Visiting Teachers need to be remembered and loved as well!

I know my Heavenly Father loves me because this is only one of the many occasions that He manifested his love and knowledge of my feelings by sending his angels to me.

A Stem of Flower

Saturday, 24 September 2011

It was one stem of flower on the table for each sister. I was told it was made during this month's Relief Society activity (which I didn't join). I thought it was pretty and a great gift for this evening Stake Relief Society dinner, prior to watching the General Conference.

I found this on the internet - http://www.ehow.com/how_4464926_make-flowers-out-hersey-kisses.html - if anyone wants to know how to make them.

The Ten Virgins

Tuesday, 19 April 2011

Glad I attended the Relief Society activity last night. Enjoyed the slide show on the Parable of the Ten Virgins.

Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them. But the wise took oil with their lamps. While the bridegroom tarried they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridgegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

Christmas Party 2010

Wednesday, 15 December 2010

It was just a sit-down dinner for the members. The Primary sang some Christmas songs.

I like this picture of Suzie and her husband.

Dinner was provided. We need only to bring a dessert, enough for another family. We made chewy brownies and in return we got to fill our tray with the leftover shrimp crackers. We love shrimp crackers!

Relief Society Social

Tuesday, 7 December 2010

This was such a good idea, to share the Christmas cheer with our Senior Sisters who couldn't come to church meetings because of their physical and health situations.

We met at the Relief Society room before dispersing in 4 groups to visit the respective designated Sister. Our group got to visit Sister Brown. We took with us dinner (that was already prepared by some of the sisters for this evening) and ate with Sister Brown. We sang the carols that she chose. In our group, we sang "Joy to the World" and "Silent Night". Each of us take turn asking Sister Brown questions (that were already printed out) about her life, etc. We ended with the visit in presenting her ornaments.

This activity also foster closer relationship between the visiting sisters as well!

Fellow-shipping for the night continued at Sister Paul's residence. The 4 groups gathered back at Sister Paul's home instead of the church.

This is my favourite picture of the evening - mother and daughter!

Halloween Social 2010

Saturday, 30 October 2010

It was Halloween activity at church. The only thing I like this evening was this picture. The hall was not lighted enough for me to see!
