Visiting Teachers are Friends

Sunday, 19 April 2009

They didn't knock on my door and walked away! No, no, a big part of the movie that I posted on the 10 April was only to make us laugh.

I joined the 10th ward on the 15 June 2008. By December, no visiting teachers had come to my home. I didn't feel like attending the Relief Society class at all because I felt lonely there. I was too quiet sitting by myself in the back row, that is why! I didn't talk enough to be noticed!

Thanks to a dear fatherly-friend of mine who counseled me not to be shy to approach the Relief Society President to enquire about my visiting teachers. I finally gathered up courage and did that on the 11 January 2009.

Sister Gina and Sister Elinor came to visit on the 29 January. That visit made up for the past 6 months! A set of Sisters would be assigned to me but these 2 dear sisters decided to pay me a visit right away.

I wanted to take a picture of Sister Gina and Sister Elinor but the latter didn't come to meetings today. Actually I have not seen her last Sunday as well. But I got a picture of Sister Gina and her husband, Brother Charles. It is a pleasure to know both of you. You are a special couple and thank you both for your friendship and all you do.

Friday the 13th March finally saw my assigned Visiting Teachers, Sister Julie and Sister Brooke. Thank you both for your time. Keep up with the good work of Visiting Teaching. It is a pleasure to know both of you too - such lovely and friendly ladies!

I won't wait 6 months again to ask for my Visiting Teachers anymore!

Visiting Teaching

Friday, 10 April 2009

Thank you, Sister Beverly, for forwarding me this video on Visiting Teaching.

For me, visiting teaching is the best way to know a sister better. I found the initial part of this video funny and towards the end spiritual. Thank you for the posting of this video http://visitingteaching.blip.tv/#804254.

Letter of Release

Thursday, 9 April 2009

I guess this would be the last letter that I would receive from California Riverside Mission. I hope I didn't make any mistake copy-typing the letter here.

Dear ........

It is a privilege to announce the honorable release of your daughter, Sister ................, from her labors as a missionary serving in the California Riverside Mission. She has served a successful mission and will be returning home, leaving here on Tuesday, May 5, 2009. Please schedule a time when your stake president can release her.

Enclosed is a copy of your missionary's flight plan. A current view of this is also available on the website: www.viewtrip.com. The website will ask for the reservation number, which is located on the enclosed itinerary above the flight information and below the missionary's name. It is also recommended that you contact the airlines the day of travel to find out if any changes have occurred in the flight.

You can be proud of your daughter and the fine work she has done here in the mission field. As she has served and taught, her testimony and overall knowledge of the gospel has grown. Her missionary experience can now be a solid formation on which she can build a life of happiness, success, service, and increased spirituality. As her service here in the California Riverside Mission comes to a close, I express my gratitude for the valuable contribution she has made to our missionary effort.

We thank you for the love and support given to Sister Liew while serving with us in the mission field. May the Lord's choicest blessings be yours for sharing her with us in this tremendous experience.

Sincerely,
(signed)
Melvyn K. Reeves, President
California Riverside Mission

You Light Up My Life

Sunday, 29 March 2009

Who light up your life? Whenever I hear this song "You Light Up My Life" by Debby Boone, I think of one person and that is my saviour, Jesus Christ.

So many nights I sit by my window
Waiting for someone to sing me his song
So many dreams I kept deep inside me
Alone in the dark but now
You've come along

You light up my life
You give me hope
To carry on
You light up my days
and fill my nights with song

Rollin' at sea, adrift on the water
Could it be finally I'm turning for home?
Finally, a chance to say hey,
I love You
Never again to be all alone

You light up my life
You give me hope
To carry on
You light up my days
and fill my nights with song

You light up my life
You give me hope
To carry on
You light up my days
and fill my nights with song

It can't be wrong
When it feels so right
'Cause You
You light up my life

Primary Worker

Sunday, 15 June 2008

When the Bishop called me to the Primary nursery on the 14 October 2007, I wasn't excited nor was I excited about it. I was not sure I will like it or not because I have not experienced with the nursery, since I became a member of the church in 1998. The children and I were starting to get used to each other and I have to move .........(sigh).

Rachel accidentally addressed me "Grandma" in one recent Sunday. Maverick gave me a surprise when he appeared behind my back, before a sacrament meeting started and talked to me! And then in the nursery one Sunday, he came towards me with his arms opened and wanted me to hug him! For the early 6 mths he had brushed me away and I thought he didn't like me at all!
